Shine Your Light!
The other day, I was speaking with someone who shared that life just felt like a constant uphill climb. Work relationships were strained, family dynamics difficult, finances tight, and even their own health felt like it was slipping out of control. They spoke of people around them behaving in ways that left them feeling cornered, pushed, and powerless—like life was happening to them.
I listened closely. Then I asked a question that stopped the conversation in its tracks:
“Do you believe your purpose in this life is to be a light… or not?”
There was silence. The weight of the question was real—because it points to something deeper than circumstances. It challenges the very core of how we understand our identity and mission.
For me, I believe without hesitation that life isn’t random or chaotic. We were each created intentionally, for a purpose far greater than personal comfort or worldly success. We are here to shine—to bring light where there is darkness, hope where there is despair, and truth where confusion reigns.
Now, don’t get me wrong. I encounter frustrations every single day. There are moments where plans fall apart, people disappoint, and things don’t go as I hoped. But in those moments, I return to the foundation of who I am—not just as a man or a doctor, but as someone called to reflect something higher. I quiet the noise of doubt and fear, and I choose to listen inwardly—to the voice that reminds me who I belong to and what I’m here for.
And this is where growth begins.
True leadership, the kind that changes lives, isn’t about controlling others or having all the answers. It’s about humility. It’s about listening deeply, living authentically, and responding with wisdom and grace—even when it’s hard. It’s choosing to walk a path that others can follow, not because it’s easy, but because it’s right.
When things frustrate me, I don’t rush to fix them—I pause. I ask: What am I being shown here? What can I learn? What is this situation drawing out of me? Because every challenge carries the potential for transformation.
The light within you wasn’t given so you could hide it. It was meant to be seen, especially in places that are dark. And that light? It doesn’t originate from us. It’s something entrusted to us—a reflection of the One who made us. You don’t need to outshine others. You simply need to be faithful with the light you’ve been given.
We aren’t placed in difficult situations to change other people. That’s not our job. But we are called to respond in a way that honours truth, love, and dignity. And the only way we can do that consistently is when our lives are anchored in something deeper than feelings or opinions.
It takes courage to respond differently. To break the cycle of reaction. To stop trying to be right, and instead choose to be kind, to be patient, to be strong in quiet ways.
And yes—we all have choices. That’s the beauty of free will. You can choose resentment or peace. You can choose control or surrender. You can stay in the same patterns, or you can lead from a higher place. The choice is yours. But know this: real change always starts inside. It doesn’t begin with others. It begins with you.
Let your light rise. Not to impress. Not to win. But to bless.
Let go of what weighs you down. Step into the deeper reason you’re here.
Shine—not where it’s already bright, but where your light is needed most.
You were made to live with purpose.
You were made to carry peace.
You were made to shine
